Alma Hackney’s rum cake
Our hand's-down favorite (among our family AND our customers): Alma Hackney, my buddy Dwight’s church choir director, made a mean rum cake for her friends—she’d send Dwight’s dad into the store for the booze while she waited in the car. Alma’s gone now but left her recipe with us, and we promised not to change a thing. The New York Times and Garden & Gun Magazine love our rum cake! A little bit of rum inside a buttery yellow cake, with a rum glaze brushed all over—enough to soak through and still put a crackly finish on top. ~ $24.

Sour cream coffee cake
This is our best-selling coffee cake. It's an eight-inch round rich sour cream cake with pecans and cinnamon streusel in the center and on top. Great with breakfast, brunch and with coffee, tea, or for a midnight-snack. A smart gift for sending across the country; it travels well, freezes well and stays moist for quite awhile. ~ $24.

Harvest wheat bread with fruit
EAST COAST SHIPPING ONLY: This is the bread that put us on the map and, thanks to customer requests, we’re featuring it online for the eastern U.S. to try (we're shipping our bread only to eastern states; priority mail takes too long to the west coast and, although this bread stays fresh a good while, it's not well-served with a longer transit time). This is a hearty, soft bread full of all things good for you: wheat bran, multigrains, golden raisins, dried cranberries and walnuts, sweetened up with local honey. Great for breakfast toast and with chicken salad sandwiches—or just a big slice slathered with butter as a snack. Havana fruitcake
We'll be offering our Havana Fruitcake again in mid-November 2010. Our tropical rum fruitcake, which I learned to make in Cuba, is a customer favorite and full of pineapple, macadamia nuts, pecans, raisins, coconut and spices, and soaked with dark rum. Almond stollen
We'll be offering our Almond Stollen again in mid-November 2010. This is the classic European stollen, over 1 pound, and full of almonds and our own candied orange and lemon, wrapped around an almond marzipan center. Red Truck Bakery quiche
The New York Times loves this tart, and so will you. This large 10" tart is made in the French tradition—a shallow custard with best-quality cheese, caramelized onions and cream. We make these to order and ship out on Mondays or Tuesdays for second-day delivery (we avoid shipping later in the week so that they're not sitting in a FedEx warehouse over a weekend). Our seasonal pies
Our pies have a loyal following across the country. The sweet-potato pecan pie is two Southern treats in one, and the authentic mincemeat pie is full of apples, raisins, golden raisins and a little suet (imported from Britain to keep it authentic) and finished with a splash of brandy. ~ $26.
